Copperheads

10D, Canon 28-135mm with ext tube @ 115mm, 1/60, f8, 550EX ETTL, handheld

Taken through glass at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC. I was quite taken with the exhibits at Riverbanks. It is obvious that the zoologists spend much time planning the habitats to look as natural as possible. These copperheads in their fallen leaves bed looked much as I recall seeing them in the wild ( and much safer to photograph)!

Cool capture - captive or not - still a safe place to view these guys up close and personal, Terri! I love the colors on these creatures and you captured them well here!

I showed this to my husband, and he said,"That's not a good picture at all!" I asked why not, and he said," Because there's snakes there!"
It's a great image, but tough for someone who has nightmares about snakes. Really nice colors, and having the 2 heads together really adds to it. Nicely done.

Perfect shot. These are beautiful snakes. Neat seeing the two heads together and I assume this happens in nature as well (i.e. hibernating, mating, etc.) Could you add where you are from to your signature? It is nice to see where everyone is from.

cool shot of these nicely colored specimens;would even consider cropping this a bit tighter (to remove some of the oof bg)to put more emphasis on the heads; very nice!
