I took this photo in the West Sea Grand Canyon, Yellow Mountain in China. When the light came behind those giant rocks, the line of pine trees along the cliff showed their interesting forms. C&C welcome, thanks.

Lovely light, Yan!
I would be tempted to crop the rightmost third to concentrate the view on the trees more.
Giovanni.

Beautiful stuff.
I think that Giovanni's crop idea would be a good alternative, but at the same time there is an appeal to the emptiness and subtle changes in the light rays that makes the right side quite beneficial to the overall scene.

Nice shot, Yan. You've captured beautifully that fabulous light streaming through the mountains. There's a real sense of depth created from the sharp fg to the haze of the bg. Cropping from left and right would isolate the trees better, but I quite like the space that exists showing the vastness and grandeur of the mountains as well. The trees and steep diagonal of the ridge provide a very strong graphic and contrast to the haze. Lovely shot!

Yan:
You have captured the mood here very well. I like the 'empty' space on the right which convey the vastness of the landscape. It also shows the light streaming across. Fantastic shot. Well done.

The thumbnail doesn't really do justice to this. The subtleties of the rock walls adds a lot to the main attraction. Super shot Yan.

Very nice. I wouldn't change anything. I especially like the cliff face trying to peek through the mist in the LRC.

Beautiful image, Yan. I like the illumination on the trees that is coming through the fog and mist. Very nice comp as well.

A wonderful image Yan which captures the empty and full feel of Chinese landscape painting and the tuan or "heaven and earth" well. The backlighting and silhouettes of the pine is beautiful.

you captured some great and fabalous light and composed it well to this beautiful image. love he contrast between the dark rocky and sharp foreground and the light hazy background with its diagonal light rays. The trees are nnicely lit by the sun and looks clear. It's a wonderful shot. thanks for sharing this.

Great backlight on those trees. The diagonal comp here is really nice and something you don't see that often. Really nice image.

Wicked stuff Yan. The empty space really is not that empty if you take a close look. I'd almost be curious to see if you could enhance the right portion of the image just a tad. Maybe a low opacity multiply blend would do the trick. Regardless, it's nice as it is and it looks like an awesome place.

Very nicely done. The edge creates a nice graphic and the trees provide a focal point right where it should be. I could see Giovanni's crop suggestion as being useful.

Isn't this where they filmed Avatar? Truly magnificent! From the shafts of light to the top-lit trees to the expansive cavern and the diagonal line formed by the rock face. Just incredible!

Dear all, thanks for your comments.
Jeff, this is not the place that they filmed Avatar - which is in another famous mountain in China called "Zhang-Jia-Jie". Yellow Mountain (also called "Huang-Shan" in Chinese) is one of most special mountains in China, with its vast of trees growing along the cliffs and inside rocks.
Nicolaus and Michael, I'll try what you suggested, thanks.

There is a special quality to the light and the landscape of the mountains in China. Perhaps because they are so different than the Rocky Mountains where I live. I always enjoy shots from this area and this one is an excellent example. Beautiful work.
