Lover's Quarrel

Noticed a woodpecker on a tree in my backyard, grabbed the camera and moving with great stealth, got outside to a stool.
Then a second bird arrived and they took turns digging out the hole seen at the bottom of the image. House hunters. But after several shots I stood. The smallest one(the one with the hairdo) took offense and flew away. That was the wife.
Hubby kept working, flew off and returned twice, each time calling for her. She refused to come back and now the tree has a hole in it, and no renters.

Great to get a pair like this together and with a potential nest hole to boot, I hope they return to your place Wayne :toast:

The bird on the left of the image with the gray]crown is the female; the bird on the right with the more extensive red crown is a male.
