Compliment

Despite the fact that this photo has probably many technical and other "defects" it is the compliment of my passion to mountains and photography.

The photo was taken back in 2009 in New Zealand in Mt Cook NP during the amazing sunset over the Mt Cook.

Thank you for any comments on this photo as well.

Tech: Nikon D70, 18-70 @ 18/f18, probably Lee 0.6 GND Hard

pavel, these are very nice conditions and that glow on the mountain and in the cloud is rich indeed. there's a couple of things that come to mind - first, there's a bit of a disconnect between the foreground and the background with little to really lead my eye through the image, while the colour of the FG is appealing there's nothing there that really attracts my interest and i find the FG a little too bright relative to the top part of the photo. i'd try to lighten the top a touch. these are pretty minor nits, though, to a nice photo and the brightness can be fixed!

Hi Stuart, thanks for comment. I should probably process my images a little bit different for web as the sky is not that dark in bigger version. I also darkened the FG a little bit even it is not blend - but must admit it looks better.

That mountain and clouds in the background are really incredible. Would be in favor of a comp that makes it more prominent. A crop just above the snow field would me a nice horizontal comp, maybe.

Welcome, Pavel! The foreground is interesting with the rocks and boulders; the background is magnificent with mountain, cap cloud and alpinglow. I think a lower angle of view might have expressed the scene better as it would have eliminated so much of the undefined middle portion of the image with all the snow. Looking forward to seeing more of your mountain adventures in your photos.

You did a great job capturing the light on Mt Cook. Your processing looks fine to me, but I agree with previous posters that the snow field creates a bit of a disconnect between the foreground and background.
