Flint Hills Sunset

Last Sun. evening I went on a short shoot with fellow NPNers Wayne Rhodus & Scott Bean. Wayne found this spot just east of Alma for a possible sunset. The sun had not been visible ALL day, but it popped out from the cloud bank for a few minutes before sinking below the horizon. The colors were nice because of all the pasture fire smoke in the air. This area had already been burned and the grass is already lush and green.

Canon Rebel XTI, tripod
70-200 mm lens
ISO 200, F16 @ .8 seconds

Angela, you've captured a bit if the essence of what is the Flint Hills. This is one area that I have missed since leaving the KC area for good for the Pacific NW. Nice job.

The sun is a great focal point here. I love watching sunsets like this.

I can't believe there aren't more comments on this. This is a very pretty scene IMO - so peaceful and relaxing. I would have loved to have seen this in person. Gorgeouos pastels and I really like the rolling hills.

I love shooting the sun when smoke or water vapor make it a big red ball like this. Great job with this one, Angela. I really like the sense of calmness to it.

Beautiful example of this unique part of the country. So much history and culture...and your photograph portrays it wonderfully. Very nice composition and technicals, as always.

Love the soft pastel colors, Angela, and the receding ridge lines of the hills. Really nice.

Thanks for the kind remarks, everyone!

The Flint Hills are one of my absolute favorite places to be, and I always feel at peace there. I'm glad I was able to convey that feeling in this photo.
