After The Rain

Just as soon as my tree peonies begin to bloom, we always seem to get heavy rains. The petals are so delicate that I worry about the beating they take from the rains, but somehow they manage to survive. This image was taken the other morning after an all night rain. I like how the raindrops are captured on the petals. For added emphasis, I added a watercolor filter using Photoshop. My camera is a Nikon D70, hand held.

All comments and critiques are always welcome.

Lovely image Barbara. The waterdroplets really add another dimension to the image. Well done! :toast: Can't wait until mine start... figure another week or so although I do have two buds that look like they might pop as soon as we get some more sunny weather.

Interesting look w/ the raindrops. The flower folds are nice.

Barbara,
Quite lovely... If you've not had a large print done on canvas, this may be the one. Great image.

Thanks for everyone's comments and critiques. I'm taking a watercolor class next month and hope to recreate this image on watercolor paper, so this was a great exercise to see how the watercolor filter in Photoshop would enhance the original image.

And Marc, if I don't like my attempt at actual watercolors, I think your suggestion of printing this on canvas might be the best option. I have not printed on canvas, but have several images that I think would be perfect for that technique. Thanks for your comments. Rain is once again on the way, but it makes for a great day of shooting. I appreciate all the comments.

Thanks so much for everyone's comments and I'm thrilled that this image was chosen as the Editor's Pick. This tree peony holds a special place in my heart as it has traveled across many states and has survived being transplanted many times from its original garden in Ohio. My mother, who just turned 90, remembers this plant from her mothers farm and it brings her great joy year after year. I appreciate all the encouragement from everyone and will post more along my journey of photography. Thanks again.
