The Springtime Lane

Found this idyllic piece of land hidden from the main road the other day. Just loved the greens and buds, and tree browns all coming together, even on a very damp, dreary day.

D-60, ISO-900 on auto, 1/500th, f-5.6, had the 200mm lens on in search of wild turkeys, this was at 185mm. Thanks for any C&C! Please view larger image.

This does look like a great place to walk and enjoy nature. Pretty Scene Bill. One question - why f/5.6? I would think a smaller aperture and slower shutter speed might have been more desirable.

Hi Bill, I totally agree. But I was looking for Spring gobblers when I shot this and had the simple 200mm lens on.

Beautiful scene, Bill. I do wish it was a bit sharper though.

For such a large aperture, I think the scene is still pretty sharp from front to back. I really like how the path leads you into the frame. Very beautiful place.

Your comp is excellent here. And the soft light and colors make for a beautiful scene. I don't care for the blurred tree limbs on the left, but everything else is well done.

Hey,
I agree with exactly what Morris said. A smaller aperture would have made the blurry stuff even blurrier.

Well thanks folks for all of the comments, good points both ways, by folks whose work I really respect. I will hopefully have the chance to shoot it again this week, and would like to try the 55mm lens just to see any differences. That's after I go thru the 50 shots of it I already have!! :toast:

I love the colors in this, Bill. That pastel green grass is especially pleasing. The out of focus branches in the fg are pretty distracting, though, so I think this is a scene really worth revisiting.

This is very pretty Bill. A nice peaceful feel to it. I would go along with Joel on the revisit, after you finish looking at the 50 you already have  Would like to see the next shots.
