Veratrum
by Vance Gese
Have been a member of NPN for about one and a half years and cannot say enough for the invaluable help and suggestions offered by NPN members. While I have been fairly serious about photography for 30 years, I have only recently delved into the world of the digital darkroom and without the help of numerous NPN members, I would still be struggling with Photoshop. I truly feel blessed to be a small part of NPN and wish all the best to its continued success. To Jim and Donna a huge thank you for your vision and determination, to the editors and moderators a wave of gratitude for your unselfish help and contributions, and to all members that make NPN the finest online nature photography magazine and forum, thank you, thank you, thank you.
This image was made in the mountains of the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska a few years ago when I was still living in Alaska. Veratrum, or false hellebore, growing on mountain hillsides I find to be captivating in form, line, tone and color, especially in the spring. I have tweeked this image just a wee bit from the same image that got a weekly pick last year. Hope this contribution is on par with all the incredibly fantastic images in this 10 year gallery.
4x5, 210mm Sironar S, Velvia.
Large image provided and is a bit better.
Thanks.
