Snowface

This is one of my first images posted on NPN, two+ years ago, after I had decided NPN was my newly adopted nature photography home! I use a mini-thumbnail of this as my avatar and it translated well for my business card and a vendor banner.

I recall I over-did the need to overexpose and was relieved that by using RAW I could easily "dial" it back. I don't have the original shooting stats readily available but I remember adding a thin panel of canvas to balance the composition, which was an easy fix given the high key all-snow background. This was taken after a heavy snowfall, with a few flakes still in the air. He is walking up a slight incline with his feet sinking into the snow.

Congratulations NPN on this milestone! I feel NPN has been the greatest single leaning source for my photography! Thank you!

Great work Lon,
I especially like the slight seperation of the white on the nose from the white of the background. Excelent!

A really impressive brute presented very effectively with that high key background Lon. I certainly wish that the images I had posted on NPN early on were of this quality.

Hi Lon, you have so many wonderful fauna images it would be hard to chose one I prefer over the others but this one would get strong consideration. A wonderful image indeed! :wavey:

Wonderful image Lon, the "almost" (but not really) blown background is what sets this apart.
