Was out searching for a fanning tom on a friend's property. Got some decent shots, no fans... so got in my car, ready to go as it was raining the whole 3 hours I was out. Was texting someone on my phone as I was sitting in the vehicle, window closed. Looked to my left and two amazing birds were 20 feet away!! Managed to turn the ignition on and get the window down slowly.

I've seen hundreds and hundreds of wild turkeys as they are in abundance in NE PA, but this is by far one of the largest ever. The up close shot doesn't do the size justice, but the details yes. Still had the 200mm lens on, D-60, ISO-560, 1/500th at f-5.6.

A week ago I donated a different print to the National Wild Turkey Federation regional chapter for their fundraiser--we may have to switch prints! Any C&C welcomed, thanks for looking. Oh, and hunting season starts Saturday so I better get my strutting bird soon.

Very handsome gobbler. You'll get your fan shot.

Bill, I like the one foot up pose, nice eye contact and the light/colors on the turkey. I do wish for a bit more sharpness on the head and a little more room top and left. I still don't have a decent turkey shot though I've come close a couple of times. Good luck with the fanning tom.

Thanks folks! I agree w/ the sharpness in areas Ron, didn't seem to be an issue on my monitor, but looks soft here.
