Hydrangia still life

Nikon D300, Nikkor 70-200 2.8 @98mm. F/8, 1/2sec, ISO 200.

The table, a brass vase, and Ortonizing were used to achieve an impressionistic element in this still life. I hope the effect is pleasing. Comments appreciated.

Albert,

It's certainly pleasing to me. Love the blue against the brass and your light and reflection control is excellent. I like the softness in the processing as well. I can't decide about the table edge. I like the depth it introduces but still have reservations about it. I'll always debate how much of the table to show so pay me no mind. I'll come back to this. It's beautiful as posted.

Interesting arrangement Albert. Did you deliberately, and with premeditated forethought, set the vase off center on the table? Curious mind wants to know. I think the table edge provides a nice frame around the subject and complements the vase tonally. I might have reverse vignetted the left edge, have the interior side lighter and the outer edge darker, like the right side cousin. DOF looks right on and the composition and colors are sweet. :toast:

Nicely done, Albert. I like the inclusion of the table edge. Something I've never tried, but it works well here. Also like the ortonizing and your choice of vase  Very well put together image.

Albert: I might go a little tighter on this but it is a great combination of elements and a very effective and pleasing comp. Well conceived and superbly captured.>=))>

Hi Folks :wavey: In answer to your Queries, To Pat.and Steven My love of art, inspired me to emulate the masters" which I'm not  By showing a good part of the table .If you look up Wikipedia still life, you will find quite a few dominant tables. My favourite master painters, From Cezanne, to the old dutch masters.all used tables for a background As far a centering the subject. That is a compromise. the light was best with the vase at that position  Again, great thanks for the fine comments

With some fruit and a tiny dog or two, you could have emulated the masters perfectly here. Gorgeous shot. The orton effect is ideal, and the brass vase is an elegant touch.
