I had hoped to find one of these during each of my last 3 annual visits to Southern California. Charlie found a couple this trip - many thanks!! And, being the perfect host, said I could post first this time!

1D MkIV, 500mm +1.4X, 1/2500 @ f8, ISO800, afternoon light, manual fill flash at -1/16, natural perch of the bird's choice. Cloned a tiny OOF branch at bottom right.

To shoot nearly identical poses of the same little bird, on the same branch... Amazing.

He said you could post first... but I guess he didn't say he'd post the exact same shot! I like that there is no shadow on this version

This is fun. Interesting the differences between the two. I think you had a better bg, but Charlie got just a slightly better catch light. They're both sweet. :toast:

Deja vu, or is it an interesting stereo effect you two are providing for us. Both excellent images.

Kwan, this one is the clear winner because of the equipment used...

Glad you got this one. I found them difficult to find and to get out in the open. Love the double post as have others. I have been thinking about fill flash again but I really don't see much difference between yours and Charlies and he used no flash... I guess yours is the better one (but, of course, I said the same to Charlie)

I will make the identical post on both photos as that seems fair.

First, thanks for doing this, it's really cool that you did. I know we are not supposed to ever ask for the larger version but I must admit that in this case I wish you would have both posted one so we could compare the two different sets of equipment. Truly they both look great! What fun. :toast:
