The Lewis's Woodpeckers have returned to Central Oregon. It would be interesting to know where they hole up for the winter. Taken with the Canon 50D & Sigma 150-500. C&C welcome.

Nice shot, interesting woodpecker. I like the way the tree frames the subject. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful detail, Clayton. I like the light and the bg. It does seem a trifle noisy. :toast:

Beautiful bird-great colors and catch light. A very nice image but I do agree there is a tad of BG noise. :toast:

Bg noise can be dealt with - great capture.

Thanks everyone. It did have some noise. I'm not sure why as ISO was at 400. It must have been the lighting. Here is a repost after running Neat Image.

A few of them come down here, but then they tend to stay here once they do as we haven't figured out a way to tax them yet. Nice, Clayton. I see a slight halo in the repost. I really like the feather detail on the bird. :toast:

What a stunning woodpecker, saw this photo a few days ago and it has been stuck in my mind since - as in, I sure like that photo and how can I see one of those. I was shooting some woodpeckers recently, regardless of the species, same challenge with trying to get them on the right side of the tree and with some light on them. Great job!
