Kentucky Warbler

Warbler season is officially on. I was at Magee Marsh yesterday for a one day quick shot. The big storm that went threw the Midwest hit hard and it was still raining when I got there. It cleared in few hours. When I came up on 20 or 30 excited birders pointing and yelling it’s a Kentucky warbler. He was foraging on the ground popping in and out off the under growth of leaves and twigs. They were yelling” look he is out in the open.... what a good look”.” What a great look” By the time I got my camera pointed in the vicinity he was gone and went back deeper into the woods. Never even got a look. Many were saying it is rare for this bird to be this far north and the last sighting was about 5 years ago. I was really bummed that I missed it. Ten minuets later a birder who saw my bum ness motion for me to come here quickly. He had come out again. I got there in time for just 5 quick shots and he was not sighted again. My very first sighting and capture a of a Kentucky warbler. A Special thanks go out to that birder. Sorry for this blog like rambling .I just get excited over these little guys. :jump:

Great find and capture Joe, I love the detail and markings along with the OOF foilage in the foreground. It gives one the feeling of being there and peering into the brush to catch this handsome bird.

sweet, Joe. nice pose and setting--I like the way he's encircled by green. might run a little NR on the bg, but it looks great.

Good story Joe.
I find that many of my experiences like this are tied to images with much lower quality. You got a good one to go with the memory.

I like your image Joe and love your excitement at getting it. Excellent head turn and the OOF foreground greenery works well for me in this case.

It's a great environment shot. The bird is nice and sharp with a good HA. I would be very happy with this. Nice job. :toast:

Awesome photo - I didn't have a lot of time this weekend but went out in search of warblers and didn't come out with results like this. Congrats on the rarity and great photo

Joe, love the colors and the comp is very cool. Feels like I am peering into the world of the Warblers in some nature show. Well done. I do agree it needs a quick run through some NR on the BG though.

I agree with Craig - it's just like I was there looking through the bushes at him! Very nice! My only tiny nit would be to use a little Neat Image or equivalent on the bg. That would smooth it out.
