Painted Trillium

The Painted Trillium is one of my favorite wild flowers. I enjoyed some nice light when I found this one yesterday. It's also easy to photograph, compared to some of the other Trillium species with drooping flowers. I am resisting my old habit of photographing whole plants, or at least whole flowers. OK, I confess, I did shoot those, too, but I did also get closter for this somewhat more "artsie" shot. It's such a pretty flower, I was tempted to get even closer, but I wanted to include at least one whole petal.

Hey Wayne,
Always hard to chose where to crop the trillium if you get close....you did so very nicely! Very nice details and light!

Guess I should start going on a woodland walk and hopefully see some of these beautiful trilliums. You've presented it beautifully. :toast:

Background is just great and the flower detail is fantastic. I like how you filled the frame with the flower.

Great detail and wonderful light to show it off. Well done.
I'll have to go to my favorite spot for them to see if any are blooming yet. I was thinking about it before but NOW with this capture I'm heading out the door. :wavey:

Nice find, and nicely done, too. Light looks great, and I like the composition with just one whole petal included. I found a trillium this weekend with green on the petals while up here at Sleeping Bear Dunes. Wonder if it is a variation of the Painted Trillium?? I posted it in the Midwest forum if anyone wants to take a gander. Nice work, Wayne :toast:

Wayne, beautifully presented trillium. I think the essence of the flower is the ring of color, and you captured it perfectly.

It's one of my favorites too, and I have to head east to see any. I think your crop works very well and I like the sharpness that shows the dusting of pollen.

Wayne, IMO, the business end of this shot is in the center and you captured it nicely. Well done.
