Dragon Flight - Front Offset view

Like I said before, this was the first time I got dragons in flight from all the angles. The last one I posted was a nice lateral view but the background was not so nice. I like the BG better on this one, but the dragon angling away like that made it impossible to get it all sharp.

Hope these shots don't bore ya too much.....it was exciting for me.

Canon 10D, 300 f4 IS +1.4X TC, handheld, 1/1200 f8, +1.3 flash, cropped about 20% around.

Cheers,

Hi Robert
I think this is an excellent shot, & I can only try to imagine how hard these flight shots are to get. The BG works extremely well here, and although the whole dragonfly is not in sharp focus I feel that this adds a sense of movement to the subject.

Thanks for sharing a wonderful image
Matthew

It's a very nice shot. It looks very similar to the Aeshna mixta known in Denmark, and that is the easiest of the DF's in DK to get in the flight, because they stand much at the same spot in flight.
It's very sharp in the right places and I agry that the angel the shot is taking increases the feeling of speed and movement. The BG is very nice. :toast:

I like this angle with the face showing. Great color and detail, and a very fine shot.

Wonderful colors and inflight capture, Robert. Not sure how this will sound, but that fabulous face reminds me of my Granddad when he would remark on how satisfied he was after a great holiday meal!
