An image which I saved for quite a while. Just waiting for the 'right moment'

I've send it in to a German competition and received a highly commended. Very pleased to say the least.

Hope you like it. Cheers for now...I'm off to Berlin.

Really cool shot. Amazing! I really enjoying looking at this. Like to know more about how it happened to be! Nice work, Edwin.

Well Deserved, Edwin.. The glowing outline on the stark black canvass works really well and I really like all those flies and leaves that seem to have been caught by the early light. Awesome

Might be too dark for some, but it works for me. There's no doubt what animal this is, even if you didn't mention it. Great rim lighting!
Have fun in Berlin!

Beautiful! Love the simplicity of the image! I work at a photo lab and this would look great on FujiFlex!

Very nice rim-light. Is this darkened in post ? Asking cos the SS is low....just curious :)

Very dramatic image Edwin. It looks very familiar though, didn't you post this here before? Thanks for including the larger version because the small version does not do this justice with the flies not being recognizable as flies. Congrats on the competition result. :toast:

Very nice Edwin - congrats on the highly commended! :toast:

It reminds me of Miguel Lasa's polar bear image from a few years ago, and my guess is that that's the shot Vincent thought about.

Hi Edwin,

Nice minimalism - not too much there to distract the eye! I'm really on the fence about the flies and bush - I see the argument for including them to assist in balancing the composition (especially the bush), but part of me almost wants this image to just show the bear and nothing else (not that I'm advocating cloning out the other elements in the shot). Congrats on your receiving the highly commended distinction - I'm not surprised!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this unique shot...
