Long Tailed Weasel

Nikon 300s 300mm F/2.8 1.7x
ISO 400, F/6.3, 1/1250s -0.3EV
Cropped the left and right of the frame

This little weasel crossed my path this morning and ran into a clutter of leaves and grass. He moves very quickly and I took a lot of shots that did not turn out but occasionally he would stand up to look around and I managed to take this.

I didn't notice at first but two Magpies joined me to watch this little guy running around. Got some portrait shots of them as well.

Nice detail on such an elusive critter, especially with the final stages of transition from winter to summer coat still showing. I'm jealous!

Very nice - I've still never seen one of these in the wild, congrats on a great portrait!

Just like he was in the studio posing for you. Wonderful image. It more than makes up for all those that didn't turn out as hoped. The colors are all so complementary.

Wonderful detail! The light is gentle but bright and the highlights on nose & whiskers is very pleasing. I like the pose and find it hard to discuss any improvement. If anything some would say a smoother background would be an enhancement, but I think the perfect dof you achieved is more important.

Love the pose and the DOF. Although the BG is a bit busy, I can only imagine how difficult it was to come away with such a great shot of an animal that pretty much does not sit still.
Excellent work! :toast: :jump:
