I went to the Great Sand Dunes a couple weeks back to capture the effects of a strong windstorm on the Dunes. I took this shot of the 70+ mph winds hitting the dunes mass about 1000 feet below this overlook in the Sangre De Cristo Range. I posted a B&W version on RMNP. 5Dmkii; 70-300

Hmm, Stan, could you have gotten a little closer? :)

I can't imaging being down on the dunes in those winds. Nicely seen and not your typical view of the Dunes.

Very nice, Stan. I can hear the sound of the wind!

My eyes and skin sting just looking at this. As anyone's would who have been at the dunes on a windy day. Of course most of us would not brave this much wind! Great series from this trip there.

The sand could be mistaken for fog...

I like the dark trees against the blurred sand. I also like the lines on the dunes. the grass leaning to the right does give a sense of wind which I'm sure was there.

I climbed Horn Peak (in 2004) which is north and east (I think) of the Dunes.

This is an excellent landscape, Stan. I like the contrast between the hazy dunes and the sharp trees and foliage in the foreground. Very well shot and a great candidate for the challenge.
