I find moorhen to be a bit shy, so was delighted when this one sat happily in front of me for a few minutes. Comments and critique welcomed as always.

Water and background as smooth as silk (as Denise already said). The low angle is wonderful, so low I wonder if you use scuba gear. Nice light and a interesting subject. As Dennis mentioned, a nice peaceful feel to the image. Great shot, Ian. :toast:

Beautiful shot, Ian, especially the texture of the water and background. This fellow looks like he was torpedoed. :toast:

Ian,
Holly Cow! This is fantastic. Looks like he's drinking from a huge bowl of chocolate and can't get enough. The water color is awesome and the super low angle (were you in the water?) make this shot stunning. The fact that background matches the color of the water puts this over the top for me Ian. I"m thinking Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory here. Wish it was mine. Nough said.

Ian:
Ditto what others have said about great light, low angle, and smooth water. The catch light is a big factor too and I like the sharp edge (left) and gradations (right) of the reflection of the dark head as well as the gradual fading of the reflection of the beak. :toast:
