The Rocks Have Eyes!

I found this very interesting scene on the beach in Wailea, Maui. The sunset that evening was only so-so, so I decided to focus on the smaller intimate details of the beach. To me it looks like the rock/coral formation has eyes that are looking off to the left. I really liked the water motion captured here and how the scene is anchored the rock/coral. I'd love to hear your opinions on this one.

Nikon D80, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens, 1/4 sec at f/11, ISO 100, polarizer.

This subject will look rather ordinary in most cases, but the great light and perfect shutter speed made this one special. Great shot, Scott.

the soft - hard constrast works well.the subject and the left side of the image hold all the interest for me - so i'd consider slicing some off the right.

I lkie this a lot especially since I took an almost identical shot a couple of weeks ago. I really like the contrast of the moving water against the darker background. I would think about cropping some of the right side making the rock a little less centered.

This works for me too. I definitely like the motion of the water around the rock. Interesting shot nice to look at! :toast:

This is very neat Scott. Indeed it does look somewhat like a skull. Even without the rock this would make an excellent abstract.

Calm and chaos. What a fantastic contrast, Scott. The light is perfect.

Great composition. The water movement vs the coral is arresting. The hint of directional light is perfect as well.

Well done Scott! It does look like a creepy animal of some sort. I too like the combination of motion and still in the shot.
