This is looking up the Kalalau Valley on Kauai from a powered catamaran. This shot was taken some years back but is one of those photos that every time I revisit it, I am in the moment of the experience. The light was emerging from above the area that is known as the cathedrals along the Na Pali coast, and the only sounds you could hear were the waves crashing on the beach. We drifted along this coast for over an hour awestruck by the size, color, and grandeur of these cliffs. Visiting Hawaii should be a government provided requirement for every person born in the U.S.

It might be a tad saturated, but I think adding some yellow to the overall color balance would help balance the strong blues. Nice scene, especially as viewed from the water.
I processed the scan as faithfully as I could to the slide's appearance. E100vs definitely emphasizes blues, much in the same way that Velvia does greens. And the vs does stand for vivid saturation. I guess it was Kodak's response to Fuji.
I actually like the way the film rendered the scene as the ocean color has the same impact to me as looking at it in person. The shore drops off quickly here, so the water has that deep indigo blue color indicating great depth.
Hey Aaron, the economy is going to have to recover a lot before that becomes a possibilty, but if it ever does, I'll contact you for some paradise shooting! Meanwhile, I'll just have to enjoy your shots.
I can see why this image brings you back in time; it's a beautiful place and a nice capture.
If it were mine though I would work onthe processing a bit more. The blues are pretty strong and quite noticable in the wave line along the beach; less so in the mountain shadows. Otherwise a very pretty onshore view.
