Ken,

Welcome aboard the NPN train and the ES&S Gallery. I really like this and find this a great case where a blank, almost hot sky, doesn't hurt the image. The layering of ridges and the rays of light really make this stand out. I'm a little unsure of the strong presence of the tree, but one thing is for sure, it helps block out the whitest part of the sky where the sun is. And the only thing missing here is for the Minarets to be rising above in the background!

I do want to ask and bring up what looks like haloing right about the darker, midground range. Is that natural from the haze in that valley, or did you do some masking and adjustments with the file? It doesn't take anything away from enjoying this image for me, but I'm just curious.

I just noticed the white spec in the sky - is that the moon?

My only suggestion would be a slight crop up from the bottom to make this even more of a pano crop.

Nice first post. We look forward to more images and for your participation.

Lon

Thanks Bill and Lon for the welcome and feedback. As I remember, I did some work (although not much) on the image to bring out the lighting and shadows. I like the idea of additional cropping and debated that myself. It might be interesting to see what this would look like without the tree. I may have to try it now that I have CS5 and content aware cloning.

The rays give it a strong graphic quality. Nice shot, Ken.
