I was watching a group of hares hoping to see some action, but it never happened. The group split up and this one came down towards me, stopping about 10 feet away.

Nice tight image, great detail. It is so nice when the subject is willing and comes closer. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ron,

Very nice detail in the hare, tho' it would have been nice if he/she had taken the time to clean up before the photo session!

My only "nit" about this image regards the background - and it pertains to nothing you could control. I'm wishing this fine specimen was set off against a darker background (naturally). Given this wasn't the case, if the image were mine I'd probably experiment with selectively pulling back on the exposure on the background to help the subject "pop" out a little more. Just my 2 cents worth!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Interesting and well done portrait. It becomes a matter of style regarding how the animal looks, but I am of the camp that wants my subjects to look their best, so for me the weepy eye would be a negative. In a conversation with Vincent, he disagreed, saying he liked to find an animal with ticks in its ears or some anomaly, which set them off as individuals and provided a point of interest. I think, therefore it is just a matter of taste...
