Took me many years to get a clean shot of a male cardinal in it's natural environment. This one taken in a swamp about 25 miles East of Baton Rouge, La.
Nikon D200, Nikon 500mm f/4 VRII with a Nikon TC17EII teleconverter, ISO-280, 1/60th @ f/6.7, Early morning ambient light, Bean Bag from Truck window.

Hey BB,,,,,,What took you so long? Lots of subtle detail and color in this beauty so I guess it was worth the wait.

Ronnie, it always astounds me the quality imagery you get from the comfort of your truck! This is excellent, and like Nate says, the reds are really nice. Composition, lighting, detail, color, perch and BG all excellent. Good work, big Cajun buddy!

Ronnie,

The colors are gorgeous of the bird and the background. I love the pose and the texture of the branch the Cardinal is perched on. The light is excellent too.

For example, this is a great shot in all respects. But on my monitor the red looks slightly flat..
Not the true brighter red that I see every day out my window from our resident cards..
Still a beautiful image :toast:
