Shot this with Tony Kuyper last fall. While combining exposures and blending for the ultra dynamic range scenes is not my cup of tea, I had no choice with this one and it was a challenge to pull it off in a natural way.

Canon 5Dmk2, Zeiss 21mm. 2 exposures plus double processing of raws, a lot of manual blending and the use of TK's luminosity and saturation actions.

Really like the comp here, great intimate arch scene. Everything looks pretty good to me, the one area I'm not sure on is at the bottom of the frame inside the arch. The colors look a little odd there, maybe that isn't actually part of this arch though, and that is further in the distance? I can't really tell too good at this size. Really only a minor nitch, otherwise very nice scene.

Yeah, the bottom of the arch is actually a distant set of hills and cliffs that have less of that glow, thus the difference in color.

I like the processing Jimmy. Leaving the arch somewhat dark gives the image great mood. I would try and darken the right side of the arch a bit to match the rest. Overall a real nice image.

I like this one a lot, Jimmy. Great sky through the arch and sweet glow on the arch. Fine job on Kuyper arch.

Very very nice framing It really feels very nice. Interesting how the arch seems to be closed by the hills in the distance.

Looks even better than the version you sent me, Jimmy. Excellent all around. The light is really well-handled. :toast:

Well done man. The blues between the 2 windows seem to have a touch too much difference for me. I realize the gradient being blocked by the arch but just think its a little too different. Just from a visual standpoint, not realistic. Otherwise, love the comp and well done on the blends.

Very very nice! :toast:

I do wish the bottom of your circle/hole was not so close to the edge of the frame though, causing a tad of tension there. Just a wee bit more breathing room, I think, would help the overall feel.

You've done a good job keeping this very natural. The glow on the right side of the window is very nice. The only evidence I can see of the blend is the faint halo around the sky/rock border in the upper left corner.

Well worth all the hard work blending Jimmy. The finished photo looks great.

This looks very natural to me Jimmy. What a spectacular view and the framing is excellent.
I really like the warm touches on the ride side as well.
Nicely done
