Turtle & the Strawberry
by Luke Ormand
I was setting up some fruit for my avian friends in my yard when I spotted this Eastern Box Turtle (Species of Special Concern in NYS due to habitat loss/vehicles) in my yard (not an uncommon site where I live) and thought he would like a treat. It was pretty amusing watching this turtle munch away on this strawberry.
An interesting note on the Eastern Box Turtle is that it is often mistakenly thought to be a tortoise as it spends the majority of its life out of (and away from) water and is typically found rambling around in the woods or in grasslands. These turtles can however swim, which is a funny site as they sort of bob around. They also are extreme omnivorous eating literally anything they can catch up to

Yum!
It would be appropriate for this weeks challenge as well.

Now that's better bokeh! The subject and its food source stand out VERY nicely against that dark background and I love the colour of that eye - looks almost devilish here! Simple but effective - I quite like this...(tho' not necessarily as a wall-hanger).
Cheers...
