1D2n, 600mm f4, 25mm extension tube, 1/400s, f8, iso 400.

Taken this evening in sunshine. Hadn't noticed the parasite by the eye - not sure whether to clone it out.

Excellent, Ian. I like the pose and the young cones are a great addition to the composition. I don't think I'd clone the parasite, but I suspect it depends on the intended audience. :toast:

I like it just as it is. The cones are great. Love the pink. Nice detail in the bird and the beak is extra crisp.

I like it as is Ian, Let's face it this is nature. Love the comp. here, like the redish cones on the right. Really beautiful. :toast:

Hi Ian,

This is very beautiful! Normally I would agree with the others and say leave it alone, but in this case I think I would opt for the clone. It is a big and unattractive distraction from an otherwise beautiful scene. It's not as if you would be showing it in an unnatural way if you took it out.

Another great shot Ian. Love the comp and the cones add another level of great color to this image. Very nice DOF and the exposure looks right on to me. Wonderful BG too. For this audience I would leave the tick or what ever it is, for sale to the general public looking for a nice image to hang, I would remove it. Either way a very attractive image.

Ian,
The background and perch are to die for. The two pine cones are a great addition. The entire bird is sharp!! As for the parasite if this were my picture I would leave it in. It's nature. Beautiful image Ian. No nits from me.

Beautiful setting Ian and excellent techs. It would have been nice if he took one more step to the right to get in a little bit tighter to the wonderful cones. Alternatively you could loosen up the comp a little bit with a bit more space on the outside of the bird and cones. You have me thinking about hanging around some nice spruce trees in good light some day and see what shows up....

Ian,

The bird is lovely and the cones on the right are very interesting in their color, form & texture, lovely light & details. I can go either way with the parasite by the eye, though my preference is to leaves things as I recorded them. I think that for sales purposes I would remove the parasite. Fine techs as always.

Lovely composition Ian, those two red cones really add interest. I think now you have pointed it out I would clone out the parasite it is a slight distraction. Graham
