WILD Columbine

Great theme this week. Most horticultural creations start with wild plants, and end up with with brighter colors. In the case of columbines, there are lots of domestic varieties, but I have never seen one with better colors of the wild rocky mountain columbine, or this one, the wild columbine, found in eastern North America.

For another view of the showy colors, see my previous post here.

Wayne: Beautiful flowers and I like your POV and the light. The OOF bright leaf(?) coming up from the bottom in front of the bud is the only thing that bugs me. I might consider cloning it away. You must be more conscientious in the field than I am. If no one is looking I'll often do a little surgery on the scene to make extraneous elements disappear. Great find and a superb capture. >=))>

Wayne, excellent color, light and detail, I can see little hairs sticking out on the Colunbine, I like this very much, and can't wait to get back up, looks like everything is in bloom, one more week, Beautifully done. Take care.

I always enjoy shots of columbines, and this is no exception. Details look great, as do the colors and the background. I wish these grew around where I live . . . the only time I recall seeing one was during a trip on the very northern coast of CA a couple of years back.

Wayne, Considering that this was shot in the wild and consistent with the principle most shooters who shoot in the wild adopt, I'll live with the OOF stem in the frame. Other than that one small thing, this looks awesome to me. Having two blooms (or more) is not often easy to pull off, but you just did that here :toast:

Very, very nice Wayne. Great color and detail. I like the diagonal placement of the two flowers. I might prefer that the OOF FG element wasn't there, but not a problem. The basic principle I follow is to never cut anything, but I may push or bend something out of the way, as long as doing so causes no harm.

I agree, marvelous color in these wild columbines. The image evokes a feeling that these are fragile beauties. :toast:
