Cobaea penstemon

Shot at Wilson Lake, KS a couple weeks ago. The light is a little harsh, but it was too breezy to easily handle a diffuser, and the breeze is also why the petal edge touches the edge of the frame. (Kind of hard to keep these tall bloomers in focus in a breeze!) These suckers were blooming everywhere on rocky little ridges in certain areas around the lake.

Canon Rebel XTI
maybe a polarizer, not sure if handheld or used a tripod
35-80 mm lens
ISO 100, F8 @ 1/125

You should have such tough conditions more often if it'll produce more images like this.

I think you handled the tough conditions, well I'd say, Angela. Looks nice to me but a little more space on the right would have been ideal. But its a minor issue.

Angela: Wonderful subjects and I like the light. Something you might try in these situations is to shoot in burst mode instead of trying to time the movement. I do this a lot with moving subjects and almost always come up with two or three keepers. >=))>

Angela, one must open the thumbnail for cachting the photographic prizes of this photo. I love the delicate contrast of the colors that divides the subject from the background and the softened BG to the right extent.
Cheers.

Hi Angela :wavey: I thought this was done indoors, until i read the details. This is superb , considering the conditions. The composition and color are amazing. Great work.
