A common bird, but a hard one to pass up when they're putting on a show.

50D, 500f4, 1.4x, 1/160 sec, f5.6, ISO 400, +2/3EV, beanbag support, late afternoon, light overcast, ~85% of original frame

It is delightful to see this species properly exposed as in this image. A very nice pose and a great setting as well.

Hi Lil' Buddy,
It might be a common bird but very difficult to get a good shot. There is a tipping point as to the correct light and exposure that allows the details to be seen. Very easy to get all the blacks blocked up. You hit this one just perfect.

Another really good shot with attitude! We have been fortunate this spring.

The large version of this is stunning. One of the best I have seen posted on here.

Perfect exposure. Nice that you got the red lesser coverts on both wings, the singing pose and the nice BG. :toast:

Common bird, yes. Difficult to expose correctly, yes. You did a great job. I was just out this evening trying to get bobolinks and was thinking I wish I had some better RW blackbird shots. I would be happy with this one. Great calling action and natural habitat! :toast:

Excellent singing pose, David, and you handled the exposure perfectly. The overcast really worked to your advantage here. :toast:

I think the pose of the blackbird is great as is the exposure. What makes the image really sing for me is the background.
