Look! No Pine Beetle

I was travelling back home from Panorama Ski Resort in British Columbia last Nov and while taking in the view across the valley towards the Rocky Mountains I couldn't help notice, off to my right, beautiful pine trees as far as the eye could see...with no pine beetle damage. Between the pine beetle and fire the forest area in the Alberta/BC corridor have been devastated over the last few years. A while back I posted "After the Fire" to try to illustrate the damage after a forest fire ripped thru the area. Its heartbreaking really. Anyway this was certainly a sight for sore eyes.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and have a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

Yes such a sight as posted here is becoming something of a rarity in BC. Nice forest abstract Mark.

Mark: Great find and a terrific capture. I do appreciate this scene. I wonder how many folks are really aware of how extensive the pine beetle problem is in the west. Top notch shot. >=))>

Even living far from the Rockies I have some appreciation of this sight. I visited Rocky Mountain NP about three years ago and one of my favorite shots, taken at Nymph Lake (as I recall), is somewhat marred by the many dead or dying trees at the far end of the lake. Aside from the health of the trees you've captured, the soft light makes this shot very pleasing.

I love the receding angles in the shot Mark. The edge to edge pines look beautiful.

Strong comp Mark. I like the diagonal bias you captured. I'd love to see something like this again here. I'm in Colorado.

Love the pattern of the trees, and the fact this forest hasn't been decimated. Nice shot.

A fitting tribute to the trees. Excellent capture, and we have as bad, or worse in Colorado. Very very sad.
