I don't normally like to include a lot of 'man' in my man & nature photos, but on this night it just seemed to fit... the breakwall, the creamy sunset, the palm trees, the surf and the emerging surfer - even the power plant stack in the distance all equate in my mind to a classic southern California scene.

Taken at Ponto Beach, Carlsbad, CA this past winter.

I like the lighting on the wall. I agree that this seems to capture that classic Californian sunset scene. Well done.

This is really nice. The emerging surfer and the other people farther off down the beach really give this a sense of scale. The whole thing is nicely done; the water, the lighting, the comp. It's been 19 years since I was in California, visiting my sister, but it does have a very California feel to it...
