Your photo shows the namesake beautifully. My only nit is I wish it was a the full 720 size because I'd love to see this as big as possible. Thanks for sharing

Living here in Central California, this beach is just a couple of hours drive. I have heard of it, and seen a few shots. None that showed this place in such a way that compelled me to make the trip. This has changed that for me now! Easily the best, and most artistic/beautiful rendition of this beach I have yet seen! When did you take this?

I thought these were east-coast crabs until I read you title. They do sort of seem alive, don't they? Spectacular light and comp.

Switched coasts on us huh? Beautiful light throughout Richard. How long were you in the water waiting to get this shot?
I like this composition but I do find myself wishing that you had composed to include the entire rock on the left and sacrificed some of the darker right half of the scene.

Beautiful all around. I especially love light coming off the foreground rocks, as well as the balance in comp between the sun and the cliffs

This place has been on my list for awhile. Thanks for reminding me! Haha. Seriously, this image is a winner. I love the white wash throughout the rocks and the warmth of the sun on the cliffs and water.

Sweet shot.... This place looks awesome! It almost looks like these are horseshoe crabs. The light and the way you've handled it is just great.

I love BBB and have visited it several times. It's getting harder and harder to access and now it's technically "closed" to the public, that is, if you actually obey the one sign the state has posted. hahha Looks like you got the tide just right and managed to avoid the fog that is ever present in Mendocino county. I'm curious, what time of year did you shoot this? I'm guessing fall/winter? Very nice work by the way! Great color and comp although the top right is bit darker than I would like, but totally understandable given the location. I have a tough time with that part of the frame too when I shoot here.

Thanks for the comments, everyone (and the thoughtful suggestions)
This was taken about two weeks ago. I gained access via Schooner Gulch and the trail is somewhat hazardous, especially near the bottom where in drops down to the beach. No state signs of it being closed, but there are warnings about the dangerous trail.

Richard,
Great to see an image from our Editor-in-Chief! And I really try to avoid this generalization, but this has got to be one of the finest images from this beach I've ever seen. Every element comes together including the tide, surf, cloud cover and break in the cover for the sunset. Simply a phenomenal seascape.
Congrats on what many of us would consider a "life" image. Ya know, on our bucket list...

Beautiful image. Can't find anything I don't like about it.
BBB has also been on my list for a while. I hear it's difficult to time the tides with the sun and the weather.

A real stunner, wonderful exposure of the water, great balance with the rocks & sun, I love this shot! Only thing I can think to critique is the color of the trees in the upper right, it appears from green to nearly black. Maybe more color?
