GHO at sunrise

This is one of the adult Great Horned owls I have the privilege of working with presently. The biggest challenge is the Willow Tree branches they hang out in now. This is at sunrise and seems to speak of being up all night. Hope you enjoy it.

Canon 50D Canon 4002.8 w/ 1.4 ex 1/640th @ F8 ISO 640

Thanks for looking.
Comments are always appreciated.

Yup, it does look a little sleepy/grumpy Neil. Nice job getting the owl against a lighter background in such a setting. I do wish for more room for the tail we can't see and perhaps for more detail in the shadow on the bird's right side if you haven't monkeyed with exposure there already. I envy your opportunities with these owls as it seems I have to travel 700 miles north to find any.

Neil,
I agree with Ron's comment. Great capture of this nice guy, for which I have to do well over 700 miles to see him. :toast:

Hi Neil,
We have this species in S. Louisiana but I've never seen one. Good job of getting a clean shot. Most nits have been covered and I agree with them. The only thing I would recommend is to remove the foliage in the upper left corner but cloning is always a personal decision.
