Damselfly

This damselfly was pretty low on the ground and so I placed the camera on top of my backpack. It took me a while to get the camera parallel to the insect so I could get it sharp from head to tail.

D90 Nikkor 105 iso200 F11 1/160 cable release. Cropped on right side and cloned out a few leaves in RLC. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Gary,
I really like the composition and the colors, in particular the contrast between the red of the body and the green of the leaf. The pattern of the transparent wings is neat and well captured.
Very nice! :toast:

I love the composition here. The contrast between the straight insect body and the curve of the perch is nice. I think you could back off a little. It feels a little cramped to me.

I always want a subject's eyes to be in focus. It may just be a post-exposure issue, but it looks to me that the eye isn't sharp.

Wonderful subject! I really like the wings on the BG. Some more air at the bottom left side would help.

Nice job and fore thought in getting the camera positioned parallel for a good sharp photo. You pointed this extra step out to me shortly after I joined this site while commenting on one of my photos and it's been very helpful. Very nice, great detail and I like the diagonal position of the damsefly.

Cool DF, Gary. Very nice job on the focal plane. As a minor nit, perhaps a bit more space all around. :wavey:

The damselfly is great - and so is the BG with different shades of light green - very nice shot indeed :toast:
