Little Sister

This is the smallest of the trio of juvenile Brown bears I've been posting recently. She reluctantly would follow Blondie into mischief and was usually the first to back out of potential trouble. She was pretty tenacious when wrestling with her siblings and displayed much more finesse than the other two and they would usually give in before she did.
She has a piece of dried salmon tail and spine stuck on her tooth and tried to entice the other two into play without any luck. She eventually flicked it off with a claw, picked it up again and tossed it several feet with a shake of her head. Humorous to watch.
Her coat is all puffed up from finally drying out a bit after a storm
Hope you enjoy the image.

Thanks for looking.

Very cute look, Neil, but the image looks a little soft on my monitor.

Hi Neil,

A very cute look on this one! Good job on drawing out shadow detail without making it look like it was filled with flash. The rim of light looks almost a little blown in places, but a real tough exposure challenge on this one (to be sure). If the image were mine I would likely experiment with toning down the brightness of all parts of the image EXCEPT the bear - I think it would make it pop even more. Just a thought...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Hi Neil,

Cute shot which nicely captures the personality of the bear. Were you shooting this handheld? Looks soft to my eye and kind of looks like motion blur. Looking at the plants I don't really see a zone that is sharp. Not sure what ISO you were shooting but it doesn't look noisy at all so maybe a higher ISO might have helped. Still - a pleasing image. I like the composition and the key lighting on the fur. I do agree with Brad that the highlights look a bit hot but it's not too bad.

Very nice pose and rimlighting here Neil. I am looking at this on my laptop, so I'm not sure, but the bear actually looks a bit too bright to me, considering the lighting conditions. I'd probably crop a slice from the top to lose the dark spots along the edge of the frame, and to get some of the original aspect ratio back. A sliver off the bottom will also help. Hope that makes sense.
