Still not convinced of the species - shot a couple weeks ago in Gulfport.

Hi Bill,
You are getting pretty good at these shorebirds. Very nice light and details. I know nothing about shorebird species but I can tell you it's a bird.
Thanks for posting

Really nice shot Bill, it's not a Least they have yellowish legs. I think this is either a Semipalmated Sandpiper (1st pick) or Western Sandpiper (2nd).

Nice and sharp, perfect exposure. I like the coloration of the sand and the way it blends to softness in the distance in contrast to the well defined markings of the Sandpiper (what ever species it actually is.. )

Bill, really nice pose here. Excellent feather detail and handling of the whites.
the soft shadow and muted reflection work well.

Wow that is some really nice light. I love the detail and the fact that you got a reflection and a shadow all in one

Dark legs rules out Least. Bill size and shape are better for Semipalmated than for Western.

Sweet shot, Bill. I like the foraging behavior, light and detail. I'd go with a Semipalmated too.

Bill,
I would say this is a Semipalmated Sandpiper, partly due to the bill size & shape, we can rule out Least Sandpiper because of the leg color. Love the pose, the light, smooth sand and the interesting reflection.
