I came across this little bird near Longformacus in the Scottish Borders. It landed in the tree just across from were I was sitting.

I like the colours of the background the tree top and the bird

I like it also. The tree branch gives some scale to the bird. Nice colors, detail and pose. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ron,
Really nice perch, background and light. There seems to be a little background noise showing up in the large image. Everything looks perfect except the bird does not seem to have any fine detail. You had plenty of shutter speed so I must assume this is a big crop???
Thanks for posting,
Ronnie G.

The redpoll is like an ornament on the tree. Nice background, perch and redpoll. Well done! :toast:

I really like your comp and the colors in this Ron. The feathers of the bird look melted to me, if you ran noise reduction on the image including the bird that could be the cause. :toast:

Ron, I agree with the others on both the strengths and weaknesses of this image. I especially like that wonderful perch.

I really like the composition, but I don't understand the lack of detail on the breast of the bird. If it were due to noise reduction, why isn't detail missing in the perch as well? It almost seem like the feathers are missing on the right side of the bird's breast.

Diminutive little cutie, accentuated by the interesting perch. Nice crisp colors and detail Ron, great job. :toast:

Ron,

I love the background and the super details in the tree top the bird is perched on. I also like and appreciate the size of the bird in the frame. Lovely light too. The bird's chest does seem to lack the detail the rest of the image has. Not sure why that happened. I like the bird's pose and the light in its eye.

I agree with Nate's and Mia's assessment. But a good image overall. Your Redpolls are certainly more colorful than ours.

Nicely presented, Ron; nice perch, pose and color. Noise reduction comments already noted.
