Here's another image from our recent trip to Ecuador. This was taken on a multi-flash setup at Guango Lodge. Cropped to about 80% of FF, I cloned out a few dust spots.

wow - it does not get better than this. The background colors, tack sharp subject(s), lighting etc. Congrats on this - hope I get something that could even approach this on my central american trip.

Wonderful colors in this image, Nate. You froze the motion beautifully too: just a trace of wing blur to indicate motion. Looking really hard at it I might have found a double catchlight in the eye....but that's an iffy nit. Beautiful image as usual. :toast:

I didn't think moderators ever got dust spots...

 WOW Nate! Very well done in all aspects. The BG and flower compliment the bird incredibly. Also, I like the fact that it does not look over flashed.

Quite the visual feast. The overhanging flowers are amazing, I like that they are in varying stages of opening. Great detail and color, thanks for posting yet another incredible bird.

Wow, Nate! You sure have the tech side of shooting these little guys down pat. Oh, and by the way, it's also a beautiful image. The exotic flower & touch of blur in the wingtips are great.

Superb in every way. Great composition and detail and excellent depth of field to get the flower and bird sharp. I don't suppose I will ever see one but I really enjoy looking at their images and this is as good as it gets. Graham

What really sets this image apart is the golden light, rather than the whiter flash. Superb background.

And after dark, you got the even better Guango Lodge soups. Seriously, folks, outstanding food, and especially the soups.

Wow! This is postcard material. The sort of thing you couldn't resist buying after a few unforgettable days at an eco-lodge in some far away tropical paradise.

I wont go into details like great comp., color, sharpness etc, because it's the whole thing that simply works to please the eye.

Stunning!

Gorgeous shot, Nate. I'm not sure if the horizontal crop works for me or not, perhaps since I see these as two vertical elements (plant hanging down, hummer with dangling tail) that are fairly close to each other... so I might prefer a closer crop from the sides. Of course you'd lose some of that beautiful background color, but it's simply a personal preference.
