Hello,

This is my first post. I’ve been a member for a few years now, and finally got off my butt to post my first image. I really enjoy the work of all you great photographers. (very inspirational). This image was taken in Yosemite at Happy Isles with my good friends, Lon, Harley and Jason.

Comments are greatly appreciated!

Damn good thing I was sitting down or I would have fallen over. Your first post after all these years! Congratulations, Kyle.

Nice classic-looking Yosemite B&W.

OMG Kyle! I can't believe it. Like Harley, good thing I was sitting down too! So glad you finally decided to post an image.

So of course I must welcome you to NPN and the ES&S Gallery. And just to let folks know, you and I have been shooting together since oh, about the time Al Gore invented the internet, so we go way back. I know folks will be glad to see your work and we all look forward to your participation.

And what a wonderful first image to post. The b&w rendition is excellent as I like the full range of tones; and it also has that silver gelatin look to it... if that's possible on the web, but some of print guys will know what I mean. I love the composition with a nice flow up the river leading to all the diverse trees and plants along either shore.

Some folks won't like the silky effect in the water, but I think there is plenty of detail, with a balanced scattering of rocks, etc. and NO washed out areas.

Great job with this Kyle and glad you finally stopped by! Of course you may get hooked now and I don't know what the cure is yet.

Oh my. This is really pretty. My first reaction was this looks great in B&W. The processing is really nice. Love the silky water and the tonal range is superb. Welcome and thanks for sharing.

Kyle,

Beautiful tonalities throughout and excellent control of the highlights. You chose a perfect shutter speed to showcase the water textures and I like the dark rocks that anchor the bottom of the composition in the midst of the flowing water. Great first post!
