Devil's Golf Course

Devil's Golf Course in Death Valley is one of the most inhospitable landscapes I've ever seen. The salt crystals covering the surface are like broken glass. At the time I took this, the temperature was still over 100 degrees, with a hot, dry wind blowing off the parched earth.
Thanks for looking and comments,
Rudy

Rudy,

I like the subtle contrast you have captured here with the distant pastel sky and the far away purple peaks a calm scene juxtaposed against the fierce wasteland of the tortured drylake giving up it last moisture to the parched atmosphere. Well captured, was there anything left of the soles of your shoes?

Rudy,

This is one great capture from the links! (ok, golf course..) This has a surprisingly great depth. In fact, I would even say this has a 3-dimensional look to it. The background mountains, soft colors in the sky and the well proportioned sky really make for a strong composition.

The only suggestion I have would be to selectively pull back on the blues of the mountain's shadows just above the horizon. Not a big deal, but something to consider if you so choose.

Like this a lot.

Rudy, this has got to be one of the better images I've seen from the Golf Course. When I was there I actually had a hard time arranging a FG I liked, but I think this is perfect. I actually think the blues in the FG could be dialed down slightly.

The extreme close up view here is very cool and the sharp texture of the salt crystals is very palpable. The blue and gold pastel colors are fantastic and the gradual fading off of the light from front to back really pulls me in to the image. Great image all around!

Great choice of foreground. I'm with Lon on the blue mountains. But otherwise lovely shot.

Well done! Venturing into Death Valley is adventurous enough and by the look of this fantastic image, I really appreciate how deadly it could be. Looks like an aptly named place. Congrats on a superb image and on your journey.

Man, what a place. I like the blues, but agree to maybe tones down the mountains just a bit. The in your face foreground works really well.

If you hadn't said it was a torrid 100° I would have taken this for frost! An amazing landscape...

OMG Rudy, are you sure any dying from heat stroke birds didn't fall out the sky and hit you on the head. Only tourists go out there in summertime, you're crazy but at least you got there. It's endless, goes on forever and I like the blues. Too many different opinions right? Nice work!
