Male Spotted Pardalote

This is the other half of the pair. He wasn't quite so up front but pottered around in the background while the female did the confronting.
Last post for a couple of weeks. Heading up to south western Queensland with Simon Bennett and partners. They've had once in a lifetime rains over the summer so the conditions should be humming.

Not sure about the comp - could be tighter but I wanted to keep the foliage rather than just having a bare twig.

1D2n 500/f4 and 1.4X
ISO 800 f6.3 1/160 NR on background

cheers
Rob

Beautuful shot! I like the comp. The bird is colorful and grabs (and holds) your attention, so the foliage is not a distraction at all. Excellent detail too. :toast:

what a cool bird, Rob! very nice details. I like your comp, though I'm indifferent about the foliage--don't feel that it adds anything. hope you guys have fun the next couple weeks!

Rob, your exposure on thisis simply spectacular! I agree with you about the foliage, but then again I am getting grumpy lately and getting tired of people all thinking the same; that every shot must be completely unobstructed, uniform & clean BG, birds on sticks, all front lighting (with no shadows), etc...I find this more interesting. This is nature! Let's show some! Keep the foliage

The comp. looks tight enough to me. I like the sharp details and the pose very much. Well done.

Very handsome dude! The foliage is a little bit unusual, but I wouldn't mess with it either. Great job with the NR on the background. :toast:

Rob,
Have a great trip. Sounds exciting. I love the comp with the leaves on the tree included. Very soft lighting, excellent exposure, nice head turn, very sharp throughout, along with a pleasing muted background. Perfectly serene Rob. I love it. Looking forward to some great shots once you return. Good luck!!

Great little bird Rob, I think your comp is fine but I also I think taking a little from the top and making it more of a pano would work well too. Best of luck in the interior. :toast:

Hi Rob,
Another great image of this interesting species. Light and details are spot on. As far as the foliage, not a big deal. It does add a little interest to the left side of the image. If for some reason you change your mind later, I think cloning them out would be a better decision than a tighter crop.
Thanks for posting,
Ronnie G.
