King of the Hill

More of beautiful, windy, Wyoming. ;]

This is taken near my hometown, photo taken between Casper Mountain and Muddy Mountain. The Ferris Mountains can be seen in the far distance to the left. They probably contain some of the most rugged country in the lower 48. It's almost completely wild, and there are no trails to speak of. I'll be heading there soon!

Bits and pieces of 4 images. 1 for the main, one for most of the sky, another for the highlights in the sunset, and a final for the main foreground flower (the King) at a high iso due to wind. Shot with a 5dm2, 16-35m2, CPL.

Thanks for looking.

Wonderful, Nicolaus. The subtle colors work great and I love the hovering clouds here. Another nice addition is the color of the lichen on the foreground rock. Great job.

I like this a lot Nicolaus. It is a very well composed image, with some very appealing light.

Well crafted composition, the placement of the flowers and rock being very appealing. It looks a lot more pretty than rugged though.

Thanks for the comments. Kah Kit Yoong, this shot was taken about a half mile from a county road. The Ferris Mountains are what I was referring to in terms of ruggedness. This area is quite tame, as there are two tracks and cow poo almost everywhere. ;]

Hey… cow poo can keep you warm in the winter.

I like the foreground components and the gentle slope that leads to the background, also how the foreground rock and flowers in the LLHC corresponds with the sun in the URHC. I think it lends balance to this nicely composed frame.

I am beginning to spot your photos from the thumbs...this is classically super! The broad expansive themes...and complimentary tones and light...just excellent. This is a keeper...the sky/cloud echo of colors and balance mirroring the rock and surrounding grasses makes my head nod w/affirmation. Print and hang it. Ken S

Lovely, Nicolaus. You've combined things very well. I especially like the central highlight in the foreground hill.

Nicolaus,

What a beautiful and glorious landscape! Can't think of any suggestions or nitpicks. Love this just as presented. Takes me right there.

Love this image! I particularly enjoy the diagonal tension between the fg rock/flowers and the setting sun. My only small nit is the muddier looking section of the sky in the UL third section (probably an anomaly resulting from the four image blend). Clean that up a little and this is ready to print. Good stuff!
