Morning Parkeets

Got back from my trip to El Salvador and Guatemala yesterday and I had a blast. Unfortunately the birds were light (very light) and that was partially due to the weather, and partially due to my inability to make it to parque imposible due to a washed out bridge. Nevertheless I got a bunch of new species and some great photos.

These Orange-Chinned Parakeets are relatively common and I photographed this loving pair around 6:15 across from the MART (Museum of Art in San Salvador). I only wish I was a little closer.

Welcome back and congrats on all your new species! Very nice interaction and surroundings. Closer would have been a plus but still a very nice shot! :toast:

neat pair interaction, and interesting habitat, Luke. comp-wise, I might prefer the birds a little farther to the left.

glad you had a good trip despite relatively few birds.

Parrots are such animated birds. I love photographing them when I can, not many opportunities in Texas. I too think that moving to the left a bit will help with the composition. The setting and interaction are pleasing though. It is too bad you couldn't get closer but, hey, if these are the lifers, well done and great documentation.

I think that if you had just a single bird you would need a closer view. But, with the pair and the nice branches I think it's a fine environmental photo.

This is a very interesting photo for me as I've never seen anything eat Casuarina Tree seeds before!

KC,

A decent size flock enjoyed the tree immensely the two mornings I was there.

Stephen,

Yes it was a first for me in seeing/photographing this species.
