roadside butterfly
by Luke Ormand
Just returned from my trip to El Salvador/Guatemala. I must admit I'm a bit disappointed in my photos (also in the lack of subjects... NO flowers! Seriously?!) but got a few keepers.
This is from when our car broke down in the mountains of El Salvador... while we waited for La Policia to show up (they were extremely nice/helpful) I thought I'd shoot the multitude of butterflies around and liked the detail I got on this. The perch is a brick column. I don't know what species this is, but I'm pretty sure I saw my species of butterfly in this country than birds if you can believe it.

Sorry to hear about your trip. The last thing you want on a trip is a broken down car; but you did make the most of it. There a is a Zen saying 'A bad thing is a good thing'.
