Blackberry on Sedum

This is a second submission with triple 'in-camera' exposure ((Wow...last one got EP...Thanks!!)). Like that one, the first was of the sedum, f2, 1/1000s and blurred; second was f8 and 1/200 and sharp also of the sedum only; third was the berry w/o sedum and a black mat for b/g f16, 1/5 sec. A bit of luck trying to get a good overlap in-camera. No layers, masks involved in post processing.

Getting good strength of each exposure without stepping on each other to create a mish-mosh is the trick, in my opinion. Achieving this took a few attempts.

Nikon D300, Zeiss 35mm, circular polarizer

I don't fully understand your processing, but I do like the image!

Beautiful image Ken. I like this one very much. It's the light that appeals most to me but the separation between bg and subject also allows me to mentally organize the elements of the composition. I also like the mood.

This is awesome, Ken. I should try some double exposures myself now. The background looks like a painting

Very nicely displayed rendition of your vision Ken. The only hint of an overlap that I can see is where a leaf overlaps the sedum URC. I like the lighting on the main subject. :toast:

Ken:
This is something new and refreshing. The bg ground is really great and support the foreground berry. The only thing that looks a bit disorientating for me is the LLC where the berry stem seems to appear out of thin air; would be nice if it runs to the bottom edge of the canvas. Very artistic and creative image.

Interesting technique and image. This one, like the last one, is very artistic. I really appreciate the detailed explanation as well.

Ken: Obviously I liked the last one but I find this one almost as good. I find the light here extremely pleasing as well as the comp. Superb image and great technique. >=))>

Hi folks, thanks for the input. I have taken some comments to change the stem so that it extends to the edge/corner of frame (thanks Gary Y) and to avoid overlapping images where the sedum outline bleeds into the berry (thanks Stephen K). I selected another exposure w/slightly different pov and stronger berry to create this version. It has a completely different mood...but, I like the clean lines. Ken S

PS...having a load of fun playing with a bunch of new compositions...no home-runs, yet.
