Nice detail on your subject here and I like the patterns of the soft BG. I notice you use extension tubes with all your shots I see. What size tube or tubes are you using? I just purchased a set and they arrived yesterday. I've never used extension tubes before, any advice other than trial and error? Once again, nice photograph.

John,
I started using an extension tube for more magnification at a greater working distance to photograph damselflies with my 180mm macro lens and found that the combination worked really well with other subjects too. The one I use predominantly is 27.5mm long. You've probably already read the basic info about light loss, magnification ratios, decreased DOF, etc. and I'd just go experiment and see how they work with your lenses and favorite subjects. I understand they generally work better with longer lenses.
I use my DOF preview button a lot when I'm shooting.
