Mesmerizing FullMoonRise

Hello !

Even though I still feel VERY tired ... after this weekend's Workshop .. I just wanted to check my experimental exposure on this scene . this moment was just ...magical , very ethereal ..

It was darker in our real vision but I've tried a long exposure with 30 seconds and ISO 3200 to reveal a very bright sky with visible stars.

These lines are from the full Moon coming behind the "aiguille Verte" ( 4100 m ) . It just appeared 1 or 2 minutes after this moment . the impressive scene was quite 'quick' and I feel lucky to have at least one picture of this moment.

Maybe it could have been better to run to the lake behind us , to get this scene reflected or using more creativity with it .. Sometimes it's just to "fast" ,and I was surprised to see the moon coming from here and creating this very strong light ..

almost like a sun Rise but with rather visible stars

Thank you for passing by .. !

Simple but magical! I'd clone out that light source there at the bottom and the plane/satellite trails, then add some noise reduction to the sky but that's it. Fantastic shot!

Thanks a lot marc ; I wanted to keep the moon Light and the big mountain at the center to keep it "simple " and effective.

I agree for the disturbing light .. .. I "m still wondering what is this light , staying all night , underneath the glacier..

What an original shot! I've never seen anything like it. I do agree with Marcs suggestion to clone out the bit of lighting below. I'm finding that a very slight 'Smart blur' works better than noise reduction for skies.

Bizarre photo--and i like bizarre! I would have thought it was the sun too, without reading your explanation. I agree with Marc's suggestions. Very creative stuff, Alexandre--keep it coming!

Very different and interesting image. I like the light coming from behind the peak. You seem to have previsualized this very well. Kind of feels like Close Encounters of The Photographic Kind. Might tone down the sky a little so the light is not so brings and the stars pop more.

Awesome shot. Its really hard to believe that you would get light beams like that from the moon. Very creative.

Great shot! Could that light at the bottom be someone else' campsite off in the distance?

Alexandre,

Unique, powerful and simply beautiful. Aside from the noise and the light source at the bottom, this is fantastic. Going for the water reflection might have been a great option, but this is creative and beautifully executed! Wow!

You could run this through some post processing to clean things up a bit I'm sure, but part of the magic/appeal to this is having the record of the moment take priority over photographic technique. Keeping the noise and the other "imperfections" makes this more Cartier-Bresson than Adams. It's unique.

Very cool shot, looks like and incredible moonrise for sure. I like Marc's suggestion of removing the light on the bottom edge of the frame. Nice work.

Wow!!! I am really liking this. You really came up with an amazing idea for this shot. Once you clone out the small distracting area at the bottom and and sky it will be perfect. Great work! :toast:

Very. very unique moment you captured here. Could use some processing for all those special touches, but as it is...still an exceptional and amazing shot.
