Cooler temps this week let me get out and do some dragonfly photography.
Finally! My favorite pond is starting to come back from the thrashing it took this spring. :jump:

Nikon D300 w/105mm Micro Nikkor
1/4sec. f/11 ISO 200
Tripod, Mirror Lock up.
Cable Release.
Hand held Sb-600 on TTL -2.7 with small diffuser for fill.

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

Well done, Joel. Too bad you haven't had any luck with DRAGONflies.

Seriously, though, well done on the detail and comp here. Nice BG to complement the color palette. :toast:

Joel:
Good to hear that your favorite pond has recovered and looks like you are back in business! Very nice capture with sweet BG and detailed perch. The Damsel is sharp with good detail as well. I am not familiar with color of this damsel but it looks slightly 'washout' and lacking contrast - not sure if this is due to the flash (the highlights on the wing seems to suggest that the fill may be a tad strong). Just my 2 cent worth.

Nice colour, background, perch and comp Joel. Not sure I understand the 1/4s with a flash - you should be able to shoot faster than this. Shame also about the OOF wing tips and the RH perch top (I'm being super critical here). Nevertheless, a superb rendition of a beautiful subject.

Best regards,

Des

Very good detail/DOF Joel, like the way the dragonfly is grasping both seed heads..
Great bokeh, exposure, and natural color, large view looks great! :toast:
